Two Great Events for June!

 First Up:

 q5083123

 COME ONE, COME ALL!

It’s a “FUN RALLYE” Saturday, June 7th @1:00 hosted by Graham and Gail Smith.
This is not a traditional time, speed and distance rally.   No previous rally experience is needed.

Details:

Leaving from Southridge Mall parking lot between Toys R Us and Sears.  It would be helpful to have another person with you to read the driving instructions. It could be done alone but a second person would make it easier and certainly safer.  We will be starting each car at 3 to 5 minute intervals so you can go at your own pace. The route is approximately 75 miles long and driven totally on paved roads throughout Warren County. It should not take more than a couple hours or so. There will be an ice cream stop as your final destination.

Graham and Gail just hosted this event for the Iowa British Car Club and they had a great time.  Graham had several ask to do it again so they are also being invited back.  This will be your chance to see some classic British cars.

It should be a really fun afternoon for all.  See you there.
Call Graham or Gail at 515-480-9583 or 515-822-1246 if you have any questions.

RSVP back to me or on the FaceBook event.

Thanks,   Jeremy

But wait, there’s more!

Wilton

Details are still being worked out but we know Roger will be hosting a drive to the famous Wilton Candy Kitchen in Wilton, IA on June 28th. The Wilton Candy Kitchen is the oldest ice cream shop in the state. Roger is planning to leave the Des Moines area around 9 am and stop for lunch in Kalona. After lunch we will continue on to the Wilton Candy Kitchen for dessert. Get this on your calendars now.  More details to come…
Thanks, Jeremy

KCME-CIMC Joint Drive – Convoy details and new meeting spot

joint-drive-FB-cover-photo-large

First of all, the meeting location has changed! More on that in a bit. Ric Johnson will be leading a convoy from Mini of Des Moines (MODM) to Bethany. The route will be about 50/50 Highway 69 and I-35, jumping on the interstate to skip the boring parts of the highway. This convoy is optional, but highly recommended! It’s only about 20 minutes slower than driving I-35 the whole way.

For the convoy, try to be at MODM by 8:15AM on Sunday and absolutely no later than 8:30. The convoy will leave just after 8:30. There will be one rest stop about halfway in Osceola.

If you’d like to drive yourself, the meeting point in Bethany is no longer Toot-Toot. Instead, we will meet at 11AM in the parking lot of the old Country Kitchen restaurant on Miller St, which is now a “Flowers Bank” (no relation.) The bank has a large parking lot and it’s closed on Sunday, so it’s an excellent spot. It’s just down the road from Toot-Toot. Greg and I scouted out the crowd at Toot-Toot this past Sunday at 11AM and it was packed. Although it was Mother’s Day, we don’t want to risk not having enough room for everybody to attend the orientation. Most of us will probably eat at Toot-Toot if it isn’t too busy, and there has also been a crowd at Sonic every year (just off Miller St. to the west of our meeting spot.)

The address of Flowers Bank, the new 11AM meeting spot, is 3601 Miller St, Bethany, MO.

If you miss either of these timeframes, we’ll be breaking for lunch at 11:15 or so, and we’ll be lining in the southeast end of the Wal-Mart parking lot (also just off Miller St. to the west of our meeting spot in Bethany, look for the sign) at noon or shortly after. If you miss the lineup at Wal-Mart, good luck finding us, because we’re headed for the hills!

KCME-CIMC Joint Drive – May 18th

joint-drive-FB-cover-photo-large

First of all, you can RSVP on the Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/events/247309765472772/

UPDATE: We’ll meet in the parking lot of Flowers Bank, just down the road to the East of Toot-Toot and on the North side of the street. The address is 3601 Miller St, Bethany MO and here is a Google Maps link: http://goo.gl/maps/JQCNp

At the bank parking lot we can hand out maps and do introductions and wait until 11:15 for any stragglers, then break for lunch. Most of us will go to Toot-Toot if it isn’t too crowded, there is also a Sonic nearby that many have dined at in the past. I suggest you dine lightly and leave room for dessert in Lamoni. Some of these roads are quite hilly and we’ve had some motion sickness casualties in the past!

We’ll plot on leaving the restaurant around noon unless either the KCME or CIMC convoy is late, and we’ll line up in the Wal-Mart parking lot as per usual. Here’s another link to that location: http://goo.gl/maps/LqqCz

Everybody should bring a FRS radio AKA walkie-talkie if they have one. We’ll use them to communicate hazards on the route and such. Channel to be given out in Bethany.

Also, the rough road that we’ve driven on the past few years has received some attention from MODOT finally. It’s still dirty in places due to agricultural use so you’ve got to be careful, but there are far fewer large patches of gravel and potholes.

I look forward to seeing you all there!

March 1st – Detail Day at MODM

willis

Have you been driving your MINI/Mini this winter? Ready to get you MINI/Mini back on the road for this summer? Well, MINI of Des Moines has a special event for you and you and you.

Below are the details from MINI of Des Moines:

We’re holding the 1st ‘Detail Day’ at MINI of Des Moines, where CIMC/EIMC and other MINI owners can come in and use our facilities to get rid of all the winter grime from your MINIs!

All you need to bring is your MINI and your appetite—we’ll be providing detailing supplies, music, food, and fun! We need not worry about the weather, either, because we’ll be taking over the MINI service area indoors!

The detail event will run from 9am-1pm, and we can even do a photo shoot/car show after we’re exhausted and fed.
